James Eatock and I meet for the first time after corresponding for over 14 years. In 1998, I stumbled upon a website devoted to He-Man and She-Ra that he created with Zadoc Angell. This was my first glimpse of the iceberg that is MOTU fandom.
I found James’ friend Lee Clevenger sitting at my table. I punished him with a lengthy lecture on my career at Filmation. He won’t make that mistake again. Two issues of Eatock’s magazine of 1980s animation, Cereal Geek are in the foreground of which I am a contributor.
One of four Filmation panels I took part in. Jon Kallis moderated. From left to right: writers Rowby Goren, Larry DiTillio, Robert Lamb; storyboard artists Gary Goldstein, Mike Swanigan; and He-Man historian James Eatock (not pictured because he had the camera).
Same panel. From left to right: writers Rowby Goren, Larry DiTillio, Robert Lamb adjusting his chair; storyboard artists Gary Goldstein, Mike Swanigan; and He-Man historian James Eatock.
One of the best things about Power-Con is reuniting with old friends. James Eatock is in between me and Granamyr creator, Larry DiTillio.
Egidio Victor Dal Chele, my old best friend as well as Best Man at my wedding. We shared office space during the first season of He-Man.
Another great thing about Power-Con is meeting the fans. Cedric and his friend came all the way from France to be at Power-Con. He sat next to me at the Roast Gooble Dinner Banquet. I’m signing a copy of my storyboard of House of Shokoti Part 2 for him. Eatock’s hand appears to be growing out of my head.
I love this shot. Jon Kallis, James Eatock and me talking toons.
Reliving past glories with Larry DiTillio.
Even She-Ra and Skeletor dropped by to get a signed script and photo op. Too bad my eyes tend to close when I smile.
And lastly, my interview on Power-Con’s YouTube Channel.
